What is largest battery (CCA) that will fit 3rd gen tray

I have read in an earlier post the you should have 2x the cubic inches for Cold Cranking Amps. I am trying to find a battery around 850 CCA but who makes one that will fit the third gen tray?

What is the deal with Optima batteries. will they or won't they fit the tray? there seems to be some discrepency in the posts.

Anyone know the CCA of the optima?

I would think that Optima makes several different battery strengths. I also know that it's very common to find batteries over the 800 CCA mark. Mine, for example, is 1050 CA, which means about 900 CCA, IIRC. Man, can you crank that thing all day. Really working great this winter!

They fit, but take a bit of "persuading", and require fabricating a hold-down as the factory screw/wedge piece won't work.

I used two long threaded j-hooks and a rubber holddown for batteries through two holes already in the tray.
