More Digital Dash Problems!
The digital dash on my '88 GTA is causing me stress. When I flip on the headlights or parklights, all of the instrumentation goes blank on me. When I switch off the lights, everything comes back. Also, I noticed that controlling the dimmer switch causes everything to go berserk, everything displays fine when the dimmer is at the dimmest position, if I move it up a bit, everything goes haywire. Anybody experience the same problem? Anybody have any helpful suggestions to rememedy this? Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks

The dimmer control is a variable resistor (potentiometer), and is either defective, or needs cleaning. To clean the control, get some tuner or contact cleaner from an electronics parts store & spray the dimmer control while turning the control back & forth. Be careful not to get the cleaner on any plastic parts, as it will discolor them. If that does not work, then bypassing the dimmer control (probably by shorting the two dimmer control wires together) will work, as well.
