Can I reverse wire a toggle switch? Want switch illuminated when switch is off...
I want to put a VSS override switch in my car, but I also don't want the light on all the time when I'm always driving...is there any way to wire this so the light is off when the switch is allowing power through and the light turns on when the power is off? Hence...when the speed limiter is overridden (VSS wire interrupted), the light is on...I really don't want the light on unless it's performing its specific function...it's pretty lame to turn off a switch to hit 120...any ideas?

Sorry to be stupid, but what kind of part is that? Can I get it at Radio Shack? Would it be used in addition to the toggle switch or instead of it? Thanks for the reply...

Radioshack has them. Run the soilnoid to the toggle and the 1st set of contacts use the Normally Closed (NC) to hook to the SES light wire; use the second set of NC contacts to hook to the VSS.
A Single Pole Dual Throw SPDT relay.
Yes you use it with a toggle.
here is the explaination of relays.

Okay, went to Radio Shack, picked up a 12 volt SPDT relay...except it's for a computer. The "terminals" look like the ends of pins...will I have to solder this together? And if so, nothing is labeled...how do I know where all this junk hooks up? Thanks for all your help...

The pins on a relay will either be labeled, or the package the relay came in will have the pin definitions indicated on it. The pin definitions for a SPDT (single pole double throw) relay are follows:
NC - normally closed contact
NO - normally open contact
pole - movable contact
coil - coil power wire
coil - coil power wire
Note that some relays have an internal diode in parallel with the coil to shunt the reverse current spike generated when the coil field collapses. If this is the case, the coil is polarized and will be marked with "+" and "-" identifiers. If this is not the case, coil polarity does not matter.
Connect the VSS wires to the pole an NC relay contacts, and connect the lighted switch to power the coil. That way, when the coil is energized by the switch, the VSS circuit will be opened.
