Can't get my top up, Need help
I just purchased a 88 Iroc Conv. The was no problems realesing top when previous owner showed me how to operate. We had it up numerous times. When I got home I put the top down in the garage, went to release the hatch mechanism with the console switch, nothing....rear hatch cover will not pop up to raise top. Any ideas, checked fuses, don't know where relays are, or if there is any other way to pop the rear hatch. Thanks for any info, cannot drive till I can get the top up (Its only 20 degrees here in ohio)
Thanks.

If it has a manual trans, the parking brake must be set to enable the cover release relay - if it has an automatic trans, the shifter must be in P or N to release the cover.
Also, there should be a manual release pull cable with a loop at the end of it coming from each of the two latch mechanisms to manually release the cover.

Thanks for the info Tim, I found the manual release cables. After driving it for a day now the electric pop switch works again. Might have been something not making real good contact.
Are there any good manuals available for these cars that deal with the convertible top?

theres a contact switch on the trunk latch so that the top cover wont hit the open trunk lid. i had to bypass mine because it was worn out and wood not let the top cover open. so now i have to make sure the trunk is closed before opening top
Zenish,
Where was the contact switch located in the trunk. I tracked down that mine is the same problem. If I jiggle the decklind, the top switch will release. Is it attached to the latch mech. or the contacts to the 3rd brake light.
Thanks.

Good call on the trunk lid switch - forgot to mention it - it is mounted below the trunk lid retractor motor, behind the rear trim panel. When the latch mechanism is up, the switch is released & opens & when the latch mechanism is down, the switch is depressed & closes.
