ignition system for carb swap
ignition system for carb swap
im looking to swap my ccc for a holley and am being told by everybody that i also need to switch distributors. why is this? and can i make my old on work for a little while?
Yes, everyone is right, you do need to install a different disttributor. On your current setup, the ECM controls the spark advance. If you run the holley with the current dist. you will get 0 advance. This will result in pitiful power. You will be able to start the engine with your current dist in there, but you really want to install a vacuum advance carb. You can use an older stock vacuum advance HEI carb. It will have a vacuum diaphragm cansiter on the passengar's side. This should be hooked up to ported vacuum from the holley.
