HELP gauges in 84 berlinetta gonna kill me

My 84 berlinetta has that stupid electronic dash and whenever i turn on the headlights, the tach and speedo dont work. If i flash my brights with the headlights off it doesnt cut out the guages, only when the headlights are on. All the other dash idiot lights work when my headlights are on, just the tach and speedo cut out.

Another thing, how hard would it be to swap the dash guages from an 82 berlinetta and just eliminate the problem? i have a complete dash and column from an 82 so if i have to i can switch everything from the firewall to the shifter.

The last thing, my camaro will not let me accelerat past 74 miles per hour. it feels as though a rev limiter is cutting out the spark or fuel and the car just stumbles. is this computer controlled or is it a mechanical tranny governer., if its the computer ill live with it until i get a distributor because i have a weind intake and holley carb to put on my 305 and ill pull the computer.

sorry this is so long but i'm new to f bodies and dont know much about electronics. my last project was a 74 nova and it was minimal eletric to deal with.

my friend's 77 nova wouldnt go over 35 miles per hour, and we found out his carb was bad. i have never heard of governers that low on a camaro. try puttin your holly carb on and see what happes. also, are you talking about an 82 berlinetta guage set with needles or digital, cuz the needle guage sets suck hard. they are the ones divided in half, one side mph, one side kph. i hope i have been a help

If the problem you describe is the numbers dissapearing (not reading zero) when the head lights are turned on, and the problem also occurs when only the parking lights are turned on, then the problem may be the dash light dimmer control, or its connections, on the left hand pod. The dimmer is a 4 K ohm variable resistor that connects between the brown wire (parking lights) and the light green wire (dimmer control to the light module, which piggy backs the ECM) which go to the left hand pod. The brown wire is terminal A on the pod, and the light green wire is terminal B on the pod. If the light green wire is connected directly to the brown wire (no resistance), then the lights are on full bright.
