No stereo or hatch ??

After removing my old carpet, and moving arround the heater/head unit console. I now have a dead hatch button and a dead head unit? I checked the fuses and all is good?I took the head unit out and made sure the wires were all attached and all ok?? The funny thing is, when I press the hatch button, the emerg. brake light comes on?? What am I missing here!!?? Anybody know?

when you press the hatch release button the brake light coming on is normal. this shows that the switch is still operational. If the hatch does not pop try replacing the relay for it located behind the dash on the pass. side, it is numbered 329820, it has 3 wires going into it. It is behind the plastic cover where it says Z-28 or firebird. remove the bottom cover to get behind the panel. Also make sure that the brake light comes on when you pull up the e-brake with the ignition turned on. If it doesn't check the connection of the two wires at the e-brake assembly. For the radio make sure you still have contiuous 12 volts, check the yellow single wire behind the radio w/ a test light.

I think you've got some wires crossed under your center console!
the brake relay and the hatch relay are BOTH under there and very close together.

It's a ground wire problem!! When the ground wire for my rear defog was messed up, everytime I would hit the brake the rear defog light would come on...and then go off after I let off the brake!! Check all your grounds under the dash!!
