looking for fan relay... still havent found the right green white... the relays on the drivers side by the fire wall have a green white but when spliced do nothing,,, do you cut the wire all the way off or leave connected and splice.. also tried to splice into the relay by the battery it has a green white but no fan when grounded... also there is a relay by the radiator... has four wires one is green white .. What about it.... maybe it is the right one help... would like to turn on the key and have the fan run all the time.....86 bird originally 305 now 350......

TPI, TBI, LG4... ?
On my '87 'bird (TPI) the relays were on the radiator support.
The fan relay(s) typically have 1 heavier gauge orange wire direct to the battery, 1 heavier gauge black.red stripe direct to the fan, 1 lighter gauge tan/white stripe wire to the bulkhead for +12v switch power, & 1 lighter gauge green/white stripe (or green.. TBI, LG4, or grey or black... 2ndary fan only TPI) wire to some sort of ground. Be it ECM, fan switch or A/C line pressure.
Find the black/red (can be some other stripe color as well as long as it's hooked to the fan) and trace that to the relay instead of hunting for a green/white wire that may not even exist anymore (for whatever reason).
When you cut the wire at the relay and ground it, it's not going to do anything unless the ignition is on, the greenish wire is only a ground.
