Gauges fuse keeps popping. Any idea why???
Gauges fuse keeps popping. Any idea why???
at first i didn't know what was wrong with my gauges not working til i was told on here to check my fuse. surely enough it was the fuse. so i didn't have any other fuses at the time so i took the 10 amp fuse out of the radio since i don't have one it yet, and stuck it in the gauges. drove it around the block and it went again. next i took a 30 amp fuse, same thing? the wires to the radio are just sitting there not connceted to anything, could that be it at all? what would make it keep on popping? thank you.

I'm going to try and keep a straight face with this. If they're just hanging around they could easily short out. Ever lick a 9volt battery and get a nasty taste? Well the fuse prevents damaging of devices. Obviously you have a hot (+) wire touching the chassis ground (-). You said you drove around and it would pop after a while. That makes me want to think that you looked at the wires and after some driving it fell into the same position and shorted again. I'd tape up the ends and see if that helps. Whatever you do DON'T use a penny as a fuse, you'll catch your car on fire!
