Tried to fix my hatch motor, my discoveries, LOOK!!
Well yesterday tried to fix my hatch motor when it hit me, check the fuse! I checked the fuse and there wasn't even a fuse in there! I put it in tot hear the beautiful buzzing sound of my hatch motor, I was siked but when I looked it wasn't moving, just a constant BBBZZZZZZZZ sound, It looked like it was stuck.
My queston is does anyone know whats up with it, it was bone dry and I htink putting some grease may free it up, or is my hatc motor bad? someone please help me!

I had a problem similar to yours. First my hatch would go up and down on it's own, which caused the battery to die on me.
Afterwards it would just buzz without it going anywhere.
I ended up going to a junkyard yesterday and removing one out of an old IROC and replacing it with the bad one and it works fine now.
If you check the threads from a couple of weeks ago, other people were having similar problems and a guy named Lon had several helpful suggestions and also will supply you with replacement parts if you need them.
Good Luck.

The gear nut is bad. That is why the motor continues to run, but fails to move the latch portion up/down. If the guides (the plastic pieces in the channels) are bad it will cause the motor housing to be out of alignment and the gear nut will shred its teeth. I can e-mail you the instructions I include with my p/n 101170 Nylon Guides. I just finished updating the instructions today. It now details how to replace the gear nut and motor housing in addition to the guides. It also details the differences in repairing the 86-87 & 88-91 versions. I'll likely turn it into another Tech Article and have it posted. BTW everyone, ALL the items on my current Price List are on SALE at 15% off through 7/31. This includes the guides, gear nut and reinforced motor housing. E-mail me at: topdownsolutions@yahoo.com for a Price List or the Instruction Sheet. Lon
