electric fans come on too high

I have noticed my car heating up to almost 240 before one of my electric fans come on sitting in my driveway.the other one has yet to come on.How can i test the other fan and set them to come a lot sooner? This prom stuff is all new to me,is there another way? I have flushed radiator and it it clean and dropped in a new 180 stat(an old 180 was in there)Running the road the car cools down below 200 no problem, but at a standstill it goes up too high, and is worrying me.I only bought the car a month ago so i am just getting into it.This TPI is all new to me, i need to find some books on it.

What you might want to do is install a new fan switch so that your fans kick on sooner at a lower temperature. They are available from Jet products and Hypertech for about 40 bucks and are very easy to install. It just screws into the block on the passenger side near the crossmember. Also, make sure your radiator is clean from road debris and stuff that would hinder air flow. Blow it out with compressed air from in front of the engine if you can. Check the air dam under the radiator to see if it's bent down. It's forces air up and into the radiator, and if it's messed up or damaged that just adds to your problem.

i see they have jet switches in summet book for $38, i just picked up a "derale" thermostatic fan control package for $23 locally,it says it comes on at 180 and cuts off at 160, wouldnt it be on an awful lot? i was hoping for like maybe cut on 200 and off at 180, should i install it or take it back and try and get a switch i can activate myself?
