Converter Lock-Up and Hypertech Chip
Does anyone know what chip i should order for my T/A from Hypertech....my mechanic told me that it would solve my problems with my transmission converter lockup valve (since i have a rebuilt tranny and it doesn't even a hole for it)
He said stage 2 chip, anyone know the exact part i need.
Its a 87 305 TPI Automatic w/ OD.

Lockup issue
You said you had your trans redone and there was no provision for it? if it was the original trans from the car than I have to wonder what you've done. You can't simply swap lockup and non-lockup converters without modification to the trans internals. Trying to do so make work for a short period of time but will eventually fail. Anyway back to the initial question niether of the hypertech chips (stage one or two) fully disable the converter lockup, they merely delay it so that the car will stay in it's power band. I have tried basically every chip on the market and not one of them (besides custom chips) have fully disabled the lockup. I would be interested in whats up with you're transmission and not trying to fix it with a proverbial "band aid"
