1986 corvette
I just had my 86 L98 engine rebuilt by Scott Daniels and he was a little overzealous in his choice of cam for my car. At the factory desired idle of 600rpm the car tries very hard to shut itself off. I need to have a chip burned with a desired idle speed of 700-750. I have had little to no success getting any of the chip manufacturers to do this. Does anyone here have any idea why they are so hesitant to do this? It seems easy enough to me just to set the desired idle to 700. I want to try every other possibility before I take the thing back and make him replace the cam with something slightly milder. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
It IS an easy mod to do the the chip. If I had the burning equipment I'd offer to burn one for you. For less then the cost of a typical aftermarket chip you can buy all the equipment you need to burn your own chips. With that radical of a cam, if you got into chip burning you could probably unlock some more power by fine tuning the chip, plus you'd be able to solve problems like this yourself.
