i got an 85 trans am tpi and the other day it started to hesitate...my dad was a gm mechanic for 10 years so he helped me replace the plugs, air filter, fuel filter, and also clean the throttle body....this was to no avail though becasue the engine still hesitates when given some gas...my dad thinks its something with the ignition, becasue sometimes it will mis-fire and feel extremely underpowered...please help me...its not the fuel system so what could be doing this???

 

Did you check the tps voltage the timing or pull the codes?

 

Hey man,im just curios,were the plugs the only thing in the ignition system that you replaced.I had a similar problem with my 86 Trans Am TPI,i did the same things you did,but i also checked my timing,replaced my plug wire because some were crispy from hanging on the manifold and i know that was causing a problem with those bad wires,and i also replaced my cap and rotor.Now the car is fine.Another time i had a similar problem after the tune up and it was because my friend mixed up the firing order on me by accident when i was inside my apartment.I love hearing what causes these problems so when you find the problem,feel free to reply on the message board.See Ya and good luck.
