speedo question

speedo question
if i hook power, ground, the two wires from the VSS on the tranny, and the wires that go to the speedo in the dash, and nothing else, will the speedo work, or does the ECM need the other inputs to function?
I pulled the computer/harness when I did the motor, but i saved it "just in case".
