What do i need to replace my fan?
Hey! stupid question, i know...
When i purchased my car, it overheated quite often because of a crack in the radiator. After i purchased a new radiator, it still had overheating problems, just not as bad.
Yes, i do have the lower radiator air-dam in place.
I have NO thermostat in my car right now.
The fan for the radiator is wired to always be on when the car is running. The relay is broken i think.
Right now, i want to purchase a thermostat, fan relay, and new fan, and install all of them. I have seen some kits in summit.
Could anyone give me some suggestions on what i would need to purchase to wire my car back to original normal specs? (i.e., Thermostat opens at 180, fan turns on at 180, then lowers temprature down to whatever, then shuts off)
Also, I have noticed that the fan im using right now has a plastic shroud which covers the radiator, to better direct airflow through the radiator. It is a puller style single fan. Would i need to purchase another radiator plastic shroud to install another fan into? the one i have right now is in pretty bas shape.
Also, what would be involved in installing all of these parts?
Thanks for the help!!!

I wouldn't consider it a stupid question. Refering to the relay, it is being constantly grounded somewhere if it is running all the time. I believe it is normally grounded through the computer. In an early 90's LeMans, a friend and i bypassed the computer's ground, for the electric fan, by running a wire from a certain terminal on the Fan Relay(Haynes manual says terminal "B" with the Dark green/white wire for the 5.0/5.7 TPI)and grounding it to the frame in order to have the fan enagage whenever the key was turn or engine was running.
If you wanted it back to it's orginal status i would install the 180* stat, remove computer-bypassing ground if it has one, and make sure your coolant and passages are clean. Maybe you need a good flush if it is still over heating. Hope this helps.
