Were to get headlight control module for Firebird??
Were to get headlight control module for Firebird??
I've got an '89 Firebird Formula and the head lights go up when I turn them on, but they do not go down when I turn them off. Im preaty sure the problem lies within the "Headlight control module" which is mounted to the firewall. Its a simple plastic box and it says "guide" on it.
I've tried every wrecking yard in the area, and the dealership wants $190 for this thing. Does anyone know were I might be able to find one for cheaper, that works???
Any help would be appriciated, Ben

If you can get the p/n from the dealer (I see none on the module itself), you could see if www.gmpartsdirect.com has it at a better price (if they have it). Or, maybe see if a local parts store can get one for you.
salvage yards around here have dozens of the headlight modules still in the cars on the lot, have seen a good number of birds that were crushed with them still installed. later fiero modules should also work.
if you're handy with a soldering iron, 4th gen bird headlight modules look like they would work too with some cutting & splicing. both 1987+ thirdgens & all 4thgens use current sensing headlight control modules and use two wire reversing polarity headlight motors.

As of last year you could get one through pontiac dealer . I was gonna get one for my 87 firebird ,but $145 was a litle pricey , since most of my driving was at night I just hept them up all the time .
