MAF disconnected for a year
Alright here's the story. I purchased my 88 IROC vert, LB9, auto from a guy last august so almost a year now. I had never really messed around with anything in the engine besides to clean some of the stuff and regular oil changes, haven't even done plugs and wires yet (don't worry thats being done next week). Now today i pulled out the airbox and dual snorkel, MAF, and tubing so that i could make the home made Ram Air when i noticed that my MAF hadn't been plugged in. What would an unplugged MAF do to the engine, anything i should worry about in terms of messing other stuff up? Obviously upon completing my project i hooked up the MAF and noticed that it did run a little smoother but wasn't sure if that was due ot the ram air or MAF and also that whenever i turn on my car my idle is a little high around 1200 or so in park and after about 1-2 mins it'll come down to 800-900 in park which is normal. It even does this if the engine has been fully warmed up to normal operating temperatures. Is this all normal? Any help will be appreciated, thanks in advance
you should run a search on this topic
I started one not so long ago
but basically running without the MAF causes the ECM to go into Limp mode
where it runs on a premade table of Air/Gas mixture
but the premade table seems to be really rich
