I'll be relocating my battery to the rear hatch area soon and I also want to wire in a quick disconnect switch since I work on the car so much. What type of switch should I use for this purpose? Like what has acceptable ratings for this type of application? Also, can I use the summit relocation kit? I read somewhere about venting and things like this - it's a Delco professional battery with the hydrometer and side mounts. Thanks in advance!

look in Jegs or Summit under there stero section they have kits for doing stuff like this for those "BE BOP" guys. Or just go to the local auto parts store and look at DC switchs

Just the thing you're probably looking for are what are known as "disconnect" or "master cutoff" switches. They come in several styles, but are all basically the same (SPST, or in other words, a single contact that switches on/off). I have used several of them to connect the primary wire to the starter. They are rated at 400-1000 amperes, and you can feel a very large contactor (I believe it's copper) moving when you move the switch lever.

J.C. Whitney www.jcwhitney.com as three styles that would do exactly what you want to do. Look specifically at p/n 74TY7827P (page 188 on catalog 651J-06). It is $23, and I have purchased this switch and it is the same switch I have purchased elsewhere (at basically the same price).

You can also get the same switch from Summit www.summitracing.com P/N SUM-G1432 on page 138 of their March/April catalog for $20. This switch is identical to the J.C. Whitney switch listed above, but they only show one whereas Whitney has three different types.

The switch mentioned above has 3/8" copper terminals (studs), so you know it's been designed to accommodate heavy gauge wiring.

An RV or marine store may stock these switches. Forget about finding any of the popular auto parts stores (NAPA, PEP BOYS, etc.) though.
