Speedometer won't go past 100??
Ok...last night as I was cruising home I noticed that my Tach was saying 2450 ish but my speedometer was showing 100 kph.... now I knew that wasn't right because when my tach is reading around 2450-2500 I am suppose to be doing 120 kph.
So I slow down and stop and put her in Park...then I start up again and I count the gears as I am going through them, 1, 2, 3, OD... sure enough I am in OD....
Not completely satisfied with this I decided to take her out on the highway and open her up. I get on the highway and my Tach is now saying 3000 rpms and I know I am doing at least 160 kph (you can almost tell by the feel of the car and how she handles on the road)... but my damn speedometer is sitting on 100 kph!!!
What is there to go wrong here? I know I have the mechanical speedo...so there is a cable that actually spins and plugs into the speedo in the dash and the other end is plugged into the Tranny somewhere??

sounds like for some reason the speedo is hanging up there.
I don't think it's a cable or speedo gear problem, but I could be wrong.
Only thing I can suggest is taking the dash cluster apart and moving the needle with your finger to see if it moves freely past
100KPH.

I have
The TH-700R4 automatic tranny and the 9 bolt 3.27 posi rear.
Funny thing was that on Saturday I took my car for another spin and now the speedo is working properly!!
I guess it is just another weirdism that goes along with a 15 year old car. Weird stuff...
