Blower Motor or Heat/AC Switch??

I was sitting at a stoplight with my A/C running and the blower fan set on high. All of a sudden the fan cut out.

Now it works on every setting except the high setting. I assume this means a resistor blew somewhere.

My question is, will a replacement dash switch fix this? Or is that just a switch that leads to the control module somewhere else?

As always, any help is greatly appreciated!

Thomas.

Sounds like your blower high speed relay went out - the resistors only power the blower motor on the 3 lower speed settings. The relay is located under the hood, near the blower motor & is powered from a fusible link connected to the large lug on the starter motor.

Ahhhh, that explains it! Thanks Tim.

My brother and I troubleshot this for about 1.5 hours. We determined that the relay for the high speed setting was good, but the constant power was cold. I put a jumper wire from the battery to the red wire on the relay, and it kicked right on.

We traced the red wire through the harness, but couldn't find where it went.

From what you said, I should be checking a fusable link (or fuse in my case: the links were replaced with fuse holders) down at the starter.

Thanks again,

Thomas.
