V6EFI to CarbV8, wiring Q's

as the subject says, i am swapping a V8 in place of my V6. is it easier to find a V8 wiring harness(pre-90)since that harness is closer to what i am putting in the car, and getting a stock chip for the computer so i can use my factory gauges, or will that work? this is the only part of the swap i am dreading, thanks for any help.

The gauges do not rely on the computer. If both engines are carbed, then you could probably use the V6 harness for the V8 with an ECM or PROM change & some minor mods to the harness.

If you are going to use a carbed engin then you have no problem as the only thing that the computer controles is the lock up on the tork converter. I did the swap and never toched the computer except to remove it. As for changing to a fuel injected V-8 you will have to change the computer and the ECM harness. As the V-6 is compleatly diffrent. Also be shore that you have a transmission. As the V-6 Tranny will not mate up to a V-8 and be prepared to cuss the motor mounts. The bolts are about impoosibl to get to on the inside of the cross member. And you will have to move them up and forward to install the V-8
