trouble codes
i have did the paper clip thing in the diagnostic control and it did the normal code then i gave me a a code where it blinked 3 times, paused then blinked 4 times and it repeated this code and that was the only code that i have wrong, what does it mean. and when u turn the key forward to ignition without starting the car are both fans suppose to be on or just the driver side one, cause only the driver side fan is runnin right now and only when the paper clip is in the control unit, with the paper clip out neither fan runs at all

Only the primary or driver side fan is ECM controlled so it is the one that turns on. The secondary fan is controlled by the fan switch in the block. A code 34 refers to a problem in the MAF or mass air flow system. Before you go messing around, replace the relays. There are two, one for MAF power and one to control MAF burnoff which is a self cleaning routine the sensor performs to keep the filament wire clean. The relays are notorious for being intermittent and it just pays to change them. You could also try checking the ground strap from the rear of the engine to the firewall. My money's on a bad relay.
relays
can u help me out here, where are the relays located, how much r they, where can i get them, and how do i replace them, the code 34 isnt the actual maf is it, it doenst mean that thats screwed up or damaged right, cause i dont have $400 to fix it at all. i also heard that if i disconnect the battery these might go away if they r just accidently triggered but not actually happening, will it work

They are generally located on the driver side firewall. They sit next to each other and are identical. They can be purchased at NAPA, or from any GM dealer under GM part # 14089936. Both are the same number. GMSPO list price is $ 16.78, net price $13.42. Most cases the MAF sensor is OK, if it is bad you will get a stumbling idle, some cases she won't idle at all. You can clear codes by either pulling the ECM fuse, the ECM pigtail at the battery or the battery terminal itself. Wait 30 seconds or so before reapplieing power. That will clear all stored codes.
