Battery Light not coming on with key on. Alternator hosed ?
Hi,
Got a rough running, no idle problem. I am thinking maybe the alternater is bad due to a code 53 (system overvoltage at battery) I am getting. I am going to remove the alt and have it tested at Zone, but just for further data, thought I would ask about the battery light. My owners manual says the light should be on with key on, engine off. But the light does not come on. I am hoping this means the alt is not right, so I can just get a new alt (assuming the test shows it is bad) and make everything cool again.
Would the lack of light mean regulator is bad ? Could a low battery, say, 11.9 volts make the light not come on ?
Thanks
