VATS and steering column

Hey all I may have to replace my steering column. The one I have in the car now has VATS and the other may not. Will this make a problem for me? I do not know much on the subject so I am coming to you all for help. I know it works from the key Correct? so how would a column that came before VATS work or will it?

Thanks for the help

THE DIFFERANCE IS THE IGNITION SWITCH HAS A WIRE TO READ THE KEY. YOU CAN TRANFER IT OR PUT A RESISTOR IN THE CONNECTOR .

if they don't save the ignition cylinder, measure the resistance in the chip in the key, then wire in some resistors at the same value to the two white wires in the orange sheath under the dash.
