MAF Problems - Need suggestions

Well here's my problem, for the last month or so I have been getting seamingly totally random code 33 with drivability problems in my car. The car is a totally stock, unbutchered and unmodified 87' iroc with 305 tpi and an automatic (plus it is 100% rust free and in good shape clean engine bay etc, not some beater piece of crap)... I have followed the code 33 "trouble shooting" guide that I have seen posted on this board and all the wiring and all the components check out fine (no shorts, broken wires or bad signals)... plus I have tried different ECM's, MAF's and went ahead and replaced all three of the relays on the firewall by the power steering booster. The ECM and MAF's I have tried have come off of other running cars that had zero functional problems so I'm 99.99% sure that there is nothing wrong with the actual hardware or wiring at this point. But I still am getting code 33 and the crappy drivability with it at random times, sometimes the car runs great and sometimes it hardly runs. Usually when it throws a code, you can shut it off for a few minutes and then restart it and it runs fine again. There is no pattern that I have been able to notice and I feel like I have checked everything associated with this system.

So has anybody else had this kind of problem and found that another part or sensor other than the one the code is identifying is the cause of the problem (i.e. a bad TPS is causing the computer to think the MAF is malfunctioning etc.?) I'm totally out of ideas. I'd appreciate any help. This car is supposed to be my "reliable" daily driver while I work on my "project" so I'd really like it to run.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the help, I'll check out the TPS. Hopefully that should solve my problems.

Don't forget to check the ground from the block to the firewall. Many squirrely problems can be attributed to a corroded or loose ground.
