interior light problems.

the dome light on my wife's 91 blows the fuse after about a day or so. the gauge light fuse also blows. can anyone tell me what to check first. i am thinking that the headlight switch/dimmer might have some issues. also the brights were stuck on, but now they are stuck off. they won't work. any suggestion's would be appreciated.

A short in your lights wiring, look for bare wires or rubbing wires, especially in places where they could move or be pulled. If you don't find anything obvious disconnect components one by one until the fuse doesn't blow, then you will know where the problem lies.

Check the wires going from the fuse block to the switch (on mine it was orange). I had a simliar problem, only it was my guage lights and my tailights, and that wire turned out to be the bad one.

i think i have it fixed. the cigarette lighter was shorted. that happened on my truck, too. i just unhooked the wiring for the lighter. she doesn't smoke and we don't have any accesories that would need the power outlet. i'll know for sure in a few days.
