hey great to see a 3rd g site Listen i have a 85 z28 was tp 305 , swapped in a built 400. since then when ever i click on my highbeams i loose all interior an exterior lights form 5 min to 1/2 hour. checked all the grounds no problems used all new ground wires. today while doing some clean up work i noticed i had no head lights at all. the only thing diffrent is that my tranny is in the shop, but i bolted the firewall strap to the block. i removed the head light switch an have low power at some pins. whats up here

 

Sounds like one of those gruntwork problems. You're just gonna have to bust out the voltimeter and hunt it down. Start with the headlight wiring; it's entirely possible that a problem with these wires can cause problems elsewhere. If that's ok, check the fusebox, and then the ACC wiring. After that it's no holds barred. Good luck!

 

ok cayse i pulled out the head light switch an un plugged it, checked for power at the switch harness no 12 volts any where. pulled the harness aff the dimmer no 12 volts any were. took apart the bulk head an put power to the head light leads an they will work with the jumper. so my problem must be between the bulk head an the headlight switch an dimmer. its got 12v at the harness that suppplies the lights circuit so who knows now keep trying i guess. is the only breaker for head lights in the switch? when i say no 12 volts any were i mean i had very low voltage at some of these connections
