Temp Gauge Sensor

Can anybody tell me where the Temp Gage Sensor is on my 86 305 Iroc Z (my temp gage isn't working) and what the two sensors on top of the Thermostat Housing are for? one as black/yellow wires.Any info gratefully received.

LG4 (carb'd)? The sensor w/the wires is the water temp sensor for the ECM & the other, I believe, is some sort of temp controlled vacuum valve for the EVAP canister.

The temp sensor for the gauges should be on the block between on the 1 &3 cyl. on the drivers side. It's a one wire slotted connector.
