Missing Oil level warning light?

I just pulled the guages out of my 91 305 RS and noticed that there was no bulb/socket in the oil level warning light hole. What is going on? Did someone at the factory forget to put it in?

if your car wasnt equiped with that option you wont have the socket for the bulb. for example some cars have a shift light for a manual transmission bu on the exact same car that has the automatic transmission it wont have that socket in the cluster but will still have the hole for it.

I find it hard to believe that an oil level warning light would be an option. I would try and just put a light in there, but there is no way I'm going to start my engine with just a bit of oil to test it.

btw I pulled that idiot shift light bulb out, it has been driving me nuts for 5 years now.

I think it was only available in the "higher end cars" like the Z28, maybe even only with the 5.7L Im not sure though you might want to check into it but if you dont have an oil level sensor in the oil pan I would definately say your car dont have that option, hense no light or socket.

What were they thinking? If a 305 blows a gasket does it not bleed? I guess I'll just have to trust the oil pres. guage.

Ha, you should see half the things they do like that. working at a dealer and tearing the newer cars and trucks apart you see all kinds of strange things that were done.
