Blower motor

I'm still in the process of trying to get my T/A together--now my blower motor won't turn on! I jumped a hot lead to the blower motor itself--runs fine--what wires are supposed to be hot? I see the big purple wire--is it hot all the time? Anyone have any ideas why it wouldn't be working?
Complete harness was swapped over-car is an 86-donor was an 89-both tpi's. I think the blower motor harness was seperate from the engine harness-don't remember tho.
Anybody?

it should me in your blower motor housing, to the right side of the blower itself with a connector with 3 or 4 wires and two small screws holding it in

i dont know how to check it but i know it only costs about ten dollars at chevy dealer. maybe 15 . check just coming out of plug with a volt meter would be my guess, with switch on low one wire should have low voltage fan on medium, wire should have higher voltage etc. or just check wire in and if there is power and nothing coming out...that is the culprit!

Ok, I changed out that part for a known good one--still nothing! Fuse checks ok. There isn't any power coming from any of the wires that goes into that relay--where should I go from there? Need a few ideas. Thanks.

Still can't get it to work. Does anyone know what color wire should be hot? Under the hood and in the car?
Also is there a way to rig it to work?
I just want the thing to blow.

i am lost now, but you could rig a switch into your car. i have done it on more than one occasion. i used an old cigarette lighter cord and when i wanted to turn on i would just push it in and presto. cheap temporary fix.

What would be the best way to do it?
From under the hood or inside the pod?
Which color wire should I splice into??
