Fuel pump
Fuel pump
Problem happend before, mechanic fixed it... I was driving a few weeks ago and my car sputtered to a stop. Same thing happend before.. pushed it into a parking spot and turned the key and went back to the external holley 97 gph fuel pump. It wasnt going on. Went to the store got a 12 v circut testor and tested the lines, no power to the pump. Same thing happend before when I put headers on I accidently knocked some wire out.. mechanic fixed it in 2 seconds but I wasnt there to watch what he plugged back in. he is a good friend of mine so I called him and asked him what was up. He said it is wire that connects near the drivers side exhaust. I couldnt find it , I am crapping my pants now cause its been a week without a car. If you guys know which wire he is talking about that would be great, im thinking of just getting a wire, running it straight to the battery from the fuel pump and getting a switch as a temp fix till I can take it to a mechanic or get help on here, what do you guys think? thanks for the help

The only thing of importance that it right there by the ehxaust is the oil pressure switch. It should be screwed into the block right above the oil filter. I'm pretty sure of how it's supposed to work and if it's not plugged in or faulty, it cuts the power to the fuel pump relay.

In a stock setup, the oil pressure operated fuel pump switch is in parallel with the contacts of the computer controlled fuel pump relay, so removing the plug on the oil pressure switch will have no effect on the operation of the fuel pump, as long as the relay and ECM are functional. Since it sounds like you have a non stock carb setup, and the computer has probably been removed, along with the fuel pump relay, it is possible that the fuel pump may be controlled solely by the oil pressure switch, in which case, removing the plug on the switch, or switch failure will cause pump operation to cease.

Got under the car today and I think I found the oil pressure switch, its pluged right into the block right near the filter, its not unattached, so I have no reason why my fuel pump is getting power, I know its a good fuel pump just put it in a few weeks ago, maybe a short in the power lines to the fuel pump.. I dont know I need help of what it could be, the night it stopped working it was really loud, I could hear the pump and it was ALOT louder then usual, next day went out to start it and it started drove 20 feet and died, indicating no fuel to the carb, I had a 12v circut tester and the lines leading to the fuel pump are not getting power, so I know its electrial, maybe a wire came loose, I dont know if I dont fix it in 2 days im taking it in, screw the few hundered bucks
