Is the Choke Relay necessary on a non cc set-up?
Is the Choke Relay necessary on a non cc set-up?
I pulled all the wires from the pass. side harness route, so there are no more cc controlls.
I did re-install the Choke Relay as I have a 750 Holley with an electric choke. I'm not so sure that I got it wired correctly as I have only 2 Volts at the + side of the choke.
The engine is new and I haven't started it yet but with just the key in the on position what voltage should I see? What is the basic function of the relay and do I even need it?
Thanks

87 Camaro with 700R4 and 3.23 posi, impatiently awaiting 383cid, 4-bolt #010, Int. Balanced Eagle crank assembly, 4340 crank and H-Bean 6.0 rods with SRP flat tops.
DART IE 200/72cc heads (10:1 C/R) with Harland Sharp 1.5 full rockers and Guide Plates
Comp Cams XE274H (230/236 .487/.490 110LSA 1,800-6,000 RPM).
Edelbrock RPM manifold with 750 (Vac/Electric) Holley.
MSD Pro-Billet (Vac) with 6AL box.
My best guess (Dyno 2000) is about 400HP and 430TQ??

The choke relay turns power to the choke off when the engine isn't running with the key in the on position.
I have the same setup on my 87 Z, I deleted my harness, and ran the choke directly from the carb to a switch panel under my steering column. I have mo relay, and choke is working fine-Good luck
