Gas Gauge Not Working

The gas gauge in my 86 z28 is always straight up. What could be causing this... and how can I fix it, thanks.

Mine quit this was the problem.

Under the dash near the console there is a wire with a fuse holder in-line. this holds two fuses check both fuses. I can't remeber the color. It is very diffucult to locate. Mine had blown one of the two fuses. replaced it and voila! it worked.
I know this isn't much to go by but hope it helps.
