hatch blows fuse

Axle/Gears: 3.08 limited slip
hatch blows fuse
i have an 83 bird and whenever i pop the hatch with the button, my 20amp(radio, hatch release, domelight) fuse pops. Anyone know why? Im thinking bad button because there are no cut wires

Have you checked the wiring in the back, under the plastic, to make sure no wires are grounding out on the body ?

You might try unplugging the relay back there & then pressing the switch to see if the fuse still blows. If it does then the switch could very well be the culprit or there is a short in the power wire that runs to the back. If it doesn't it may be a problem with the relay or the solenoid might be on the verge of toasting. Other than that I can't think of anything else it would be since the problem is only intermittant w/the use of the button.
