Hi,I just bought my second camaro and need some help
Well this is my second camaro it is a 1991 Z28 I love it had to get rid of the first for the dreaded mini van well hubby got the suburban and I got the hot rod!!
Anyway I have electrical problems. My pulldown motor was dead,,,bought a new one .I keep blowing accesory fuses..20 amps as soon as you put them in thought the trunk latch was bad got a new one of those. My uncle pluged in a 30 amp just to see..everything worked but we did not leave it in,,what can I look for the back middle tail light does not work or any interior lights.and the hatch release.Windows work dash lights ,,, any help would greatly be appreciated.

Welcome to the board
If the hatch fuse was blowing as soon as it was put in I'd be looking for a power wire grounding out somewhere. Hardest part is the hatch release is on the ACC FUSE (if I'm remembering right) and there are other items on there too that couldactually be causing the problem. I'd have to go look to see what else is on that circuit. I believe power for the dome lights are tied into that same fuse & maybe the cig lighter as well. I've read a few people saying they've had trouble with the lighter going bad & blowing fuses (sometimes from something being in there like change).
Back middle tail light,,, you mean the turn signal ? The bulb may simply be blown.
Interior lights,, might be tied in with your hatch problem. Stick the 30a fuse back in briefly to see if they come on.

You're welcome,, most of all of us are here to help if we can. It doesn't matter how you reply but, if you look right above your 1st post there is a "Reply to Topic" button that will let you reply w/o quoting the person you reply to. There is a button like that at the bottom of the page as well.
Ahh,, the 3rd brake light,, could just be the bulbs blown in that too or, I don't know if the way those(the bulb sockets) are made is similar to a firebird but, I had the aerowing on my bird & the 3rd brakelight wasn't working. I guess it was a design flaw or something but, the sockets had turned into this kind of melted goo (I guess heat from the bulbs did it). You may want to take the light cover off & inspect it. Someone else who has experience w/that year or brake light would be much better off helping you diagnose that.
By chance was the fuse blown before you fixed the hatch motor or did it start afterwards ?

the fuse was blown before the new hatch motor. My uncle took it apart and used his testers and checked and said it was dead?I am hopeing he was right because I just put in a 100.00 motor.tonight I will get a 30 amp fuse to stick in and see if we can get the motor to work, hatch is in the up position. After we installed the new motor we stuck a 20 in and blew right away before even trying anything and thats what it was doing earlier.I guess we will have to disconnect everything to that fuse and check one by one.thank you

Because I'm a lasy **** & don't want to retype it,, check this to test your hatch motor being the problem
https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/...ML/002660.html
If you unhook your lighter along with the hatch motor,, that will leave the interior lighting as being the culprit (unless something else is hooked up to the ACC Fuse causing the prob)
If you thing the interior lighting is the problem,, pull the dome light & test the orange wire for continuity. (Doubt I'm saying this right..) If the wire shows a loop (?,, no resistance,, I know how to do it but not explain) between the orange wire & the chassis,, the orange wire is grounding to the body somewhere causing your fuse problem.
Just as with a house,, never replace a fuse/breaker with larger amp one to cure the problem,,, I only recommended that to test. If you were to leave it,, you could end up having a electrical fire '& that would be bad' mmkay ? -Mr Mackey.
