3rd Brake Light

I have an 1989 Firebird with a v6. (no laughing please.) My third brake light under the wing wont go on. I put new bulbs in it and I dunno if it is the wiring or not. I think it might be the connection under the hatch between the hatch and body of the car. Anyone that can help me?

The third brake light is controlled with an independant circuit from the brake light switch, so if there is no voltage at the contacts on the rear panel with the brake depressed, then the brake light switch may be defective.
