I read in a magizine (camaro performers) that some one was switching motors in a 3rd gen from a 305 to a zz4. When they did this they said something about the HEI Gm provided didn't work with the computer system. Is anyone runing and aftermarket HEI? If so what brand? I am in need of a new HEI and just want to make sure I buy something that works. It will be going into an '82 t/a with a carbed smallblock.

if its a carbed small block whats the computer going to run? now i think with a carb you would run a non-computer controled dist. if so it should run, as long as you have the right amount of gas spark, and correct timing.

 

That is exactly what I was thinking but i don't take much for granted.
