Can the vats system still malfunction even if the computer does not give a code.

My car sometimes does not want to start or do nothing. I'm pretty sure it is the vats system. Like today it did not start so I checked the computer for codes it give me a code 32 for the EGR. Is it posiable that the vats can still be messed up,and the computer not give me a code.

Not very likely if the module itself or the key contact is not working. If the starter relay is acting up it will not normally throw a code. Vats models use a starter enable relay usually located behind the driver kick panel.
