fried temp sender wire

I fried the green temp sensor wire on my headers while it was hooked up .Pulled the melted wire off the headers it didnt look broken so I taped it up and the guage stays at 100. I will check the wire with a meter tomorrow to see if its broken.Could I have killed the sensor or guage?

I would be very surprised if you have hurt anything. More likely that the spliced connection isn't good enough.

Even more likely that you've already fixed it by now!

You might be able to find some fibreglass sleeving to put over the wire before you permanently splice it (solder it up?).

might need to solder in a new wire, where the existing wire was burnt.

So the gauge suffered from that huh? Well I learned something today. I never would have thought that grounding the temp sender lead would damage anything.

What did you do, just replace the temp gauge by itself from a wrecker?
