Reverse Lights

From what I can tell in my haynes manual the wiring is somewhat set up in the transmission, I have a 700R4 tranny. Well I've notcied I have some sort of wiring glitch, sometimes they work sometimes they dont. Has anyone else had this problem??? If so how did you fix it??

The backup light switch is on the gear selector assembly in the center console. The wire that runs to the lights in the rear of the car is light green on most general motors products of the era.

can't remember if it was at this forum, or if it was even a third-gen

but i remember reading something where one guy had to shift into reverse, and than like push the shifter forward a bit, to get the light on
try moving it around and have somebody in the back looking if they turn on
