Spark Plug settings with an MSD 6a

I know the instructions say set the plug gap at around .050 or .055 but dosen't that seem a little high or is that a good number to try? Can anyone shed a little light on how they installed their MSD box and how much of a headache was it adjusting?

I set mine at .045 per Joe at MSD, who said something to the effect of being able to set the gap at .010 higher than what you currently use. Stock = .035
