hatch pulldown ?'s

I found a '86 TA with a hatch pulldown motor and hatch release. I just want the hatch release, not the motor. The switch has 4 wires, which go to the release and which go to the pulldown motor?

Only one wire goes to the hatch release. The black wire (+12v) that with a conncetor that plugs into the end of the solenoid. Just remove the 10mm bolt holding the hatch solenoid to the latch portion of the pull-down unit. You'll need to remove the cable that attached to the back of the key release. Use a flat blade scrwewdriver to pop it off. Then attach to yours. Run a ground wire from the 10mm bolt to the body. This is necessary on motorized pull-down units, but it wouldn't hurt to add ti to yours as well. You'll need to run the +12v wire forward to a relay, then to the hatch release switch. The switch grounds through the e-brake and Neutral Safety Switch.
