Having trouble with guage cluster!
I posted a while ago and did not really get a response. I would like to know how to get the white part of the guage cluster that hold the bulbs, out. I believe it is the last piece to come out of there! I did a search and did not come up with much to help me. Someone had said that there is a wiring harness that needs to be disconnected and others had said that it "just comes out". Well, i just do not want to "rip it out" so any help would be great. I need the info since my motor is now in and almost ready to run so pretty much i am looking to put everything back together now! Please, any help would be great. It as an 86 Iroc if it makes a difference. Thanks again-Bryan

ok by saying that its the last piece to come out I assume that you have already removed the black bezel cover and the clear lens plate? once those have been removed and all the screws that hold them in removed (all the torx and hex head screws around the outer edge), only a couple things holding it in now. look down in the bottom of the white cluster, where your warning lights (check engine/choke/fasten belt) are, there will be 2 little 10mm nuts, 1 on each side of the column, take those off. now gently pull the cluster out towards you, work your hand up behind the speedo (depending on how big your hands are, you might have to remove the lower dash trim, and maybe drop the column) and depress the little clip on the back of the speedo to release the speedo cable from the head, the cluster should now be free and just gently pull it away from the dash

Thanks IROCmonkey, i took off the lower abs plastic panel below the steering wheel for a bit more clearance and i also took the fuse box off of the dash underneath for more room too! Now, i can get to it but i still can not unhook or "depress" the/a clip. I am guessing it is where the speedocable meets the cluster? Is it near the silver cylinder looking thing? Also, i believe it comes through to the other side, right? You can see it if you were sitting in the front seat. Its black. There is quite a bit of tension and i do not want ot break more than i have too! I am sure once i get it, it will be like the cruise control lever, real easy to do. Thanks for your help so far, its helped, now i can actually get to it. Thanks-Bryan

the clip is actually on the guage head, on the bottom side of where the cable plugs in, just slide your fingers up the cable towards the guage and you should feel it, just push it in towards the front of the guage, and wiggle the cable back it should pop right off
