Starting Problems

Sometimes my car will crank and sometimes it will not. When it doesn't crank, I still have all my accessories but no turn over. I can't hear the starter turning over. So far I have had these reccommendations on what is wrong :
1) Ignition Switch
2) Ground Safety Switch
3) Flywheel missing a few teeth (can't hear starter turning tho)
4) Shifter cable (sometimes it thinks it is in gear when it is in park)

ANY help as fast as you can would be a great help. Also there is a new starter on it.

Thanks I read that just before I had posted. Just was wondering if anyone else could help out. Where is the ground safety switch? and is there a park/netural switch or something likethat?

That sounds like a made up name or possibly someone's understanding of the park/neutral switch. That switch is located on the shifter bracketry. That would be a good place to start troubleshootng, make sure it is securely mounted in place.

Park/Neutral Switch

He said the Ground Safety "something" i dont remembmer if it was switch or sensor or what. He said it was located on the column though. Maybe he didn't know I will definitely look at that park/safety switch. Is it the BLACK plastic thing with wires coming out? If so that is probably the problem, because it is not mounted.

That could be a problem If there is a heavy gauge purple and a heavy gauge yellow wire among the others, that is it (park.neutral switch). If that's not mounted that would also mean you don't have any working reverse lights

You said there is a new starter in it. How long ago was it installed? Check to make sure nothing came loose from the solenoid on the starter.

starter

The starter was installed for christmas maybe two weeks ago. I think it was the thing I left unhooked. It has been cranking since I hooked it up so we are going to hope this was the problem! :lala:
