irratic idle
I own a 88 trans am 305 TBI and Every so often when i started the car it would run really low on the rpm. so i decide to reset the timing. I read you have to unplug the est wire. so i thought i was doing thatbut i was unpluging a different wire. Its a single wire right above the heter core mini radiator right on the fire wall passenger side. My question is when i do the timing again so I unplug that as well as the est wire( i just figured out where it is yesterday) or just unplug the est wire.

just est or both?
I have an 87 and I've set the timing quite a few times. Only unplug the EST wire when setting time. Make sure car is warm. After setting time, tighten down distributor and re-check before plugging EST back together. Not too hard! Thread Starter
