Windshield Wiper Help

Its a long story but my windshield wipers never worked properly to begin with. Then they stopped working altogether. I replaced the cruise control/turn signal/windshield wiper arm and they still didn't work. Replaced the small motor inside the cover to the windshield wiper motor. Then it worked for a day and then they stopped again. I took the same cover off and I found that the Park switch/cam actuator had broken. I got the last one in the junkyard and it broke too. I had it working enough so that i could get the wipers down from being stuck across the windshield. I ended up goin to the dealer to get the cover with the Park cam in it cause that is the only place that you can get it from($104)
I put that piece on and the windshield wipers only go up and down real fast about 2 inches on the high selection.. I am now $225 lower and they still aren't working and it is supposed to snow a lot this weekend.
Someone please help and or explain to me if I didn't line the gears up or something.

I think you're on to somthing. I'm guessing that the PARK position isn't timed with the PARK cam switch. I've only had a couple of those apart, and I usually get a headache thinking about them before I'm done. Then again, I'm the guy that has trouble remembering the firing order on my 5 HP lawnmower engine...

Hey aren't you THE MAN of this place? From some of the things I have done a search on, I have found some of the info you give and the diagrams you post the most helpful.
As much as I would like to fix my windshield wipers I now have worse car troubles. i would still like some suggestions since my car can't go very far anyway. Thanks,
Brian

From your description, it sounds like you have the intermittant wipers. Are you sure the dealer gave you the right part? Post the p/n and I'll see if its right. When installing the cover, you must postion the cam correctly or it will break. The dealer cover should have come with instructions showing the correct placement. Wipers should be in the park position when the cover is installed.

The turn signal stalk does not contain the wiper switch. The switch is located inside the column under the turn signal mech. Its is possible that the switch is malfunctioning or there is a shorted wire. Even with the cam broken, the wipers will function on hi or lo.
