fusable link off starter...

I had a problem with my electrical a few months back...my dash and headlights were flickering on and off and some times they would go off completely...not safe going down the road at night!

anyway, I found the source of the problem. There was a wire coming off of my starter that had a crack in it and the wire was separating. It was right in front of a black rubber thing on the wire. I removed it because just off of one side was the separation. I spliced the wire back together and haven't had a problem with my lights since.

I showed it to my bud "deadbird" and he said that was my fusable link and I shouldn't have removed it.

Can I get a new one? I went to autozone and asked for fusable links and they showed me the isle and it didn't have anything that looked close to my original one. What should I do?

thanks...
bill

Hey Bill.. you can get them at Pep Boys in the 'electrical' section where they have all the terminals & crap for wiring (Motormite stuff). They are near the floor so they are kind of hard to see or.. you could just take the ones off my camaro.. pretty sure it won't be using them anymore..

You definitely need to replace that link.
