Your car doesn't have relays, headlight motor functions are controlled by a computer module located near the firewall.

The motor itself may be bad. The module can break/malfunction in a way that only one side works. Check to see if the motor itself is shot. If can hear it running when the lights are on then its stripped out.

It should be near the brake booster, near the fuel pump relay, MAF relays, by the driver side firewall. I'm not sure how to check it. I hear it seems to go bad easily though. I have a '85 with the relay stlye so I don't hve to deal with it. Best way is to make sure the motors are good and the wiring is good. Check the fusible links. Make sure there is power at the red wires at all times (+12 volts)
Hope this helps,
Matt

'82-'86 models used a relay system.
The headlight motors on the '87-'92 models used a control module to control the motors. Without the module working properly the motors won't work. The '87-'92 motors are also prone to breaking down themselves. The nylon gearing or the bushings will break and the motor will cease to operate. All you'll get is the motor making a wining noise as it trys to move the headlight up or down.

The headlight door contol module has two fuseable links inside on the control board. I had one blown a couple of years ago and the passenger light door stopped working. I repaired that and just the other day the drivers side stopped working and the other fusable link had blown. I found a used control module on E-Bay and that fixed the problem.
