Question about the 87-90 3rd brake light
Ok, I installed a 3rd brake light on my camaro a while back and it keeps blowing the hazard light fuse when I press on my brakes. I have the yellow wire going to the light blue wire for the brake lights in the driver side of the hatch, and the black wire going to the ground next to my hatch release. One thing I notice after the fuse blows is that the yellow wire in the deck lid area is very hot. Can having 2 burnt out lights in the spoiler cause this or do you think I have a frayed wire in the decklid part? Thanks in advance.
Making sure it's tight, that it's in good condition (not wiggling out of the terminal or anything), not corroded. A good ground recondition would take the ground off (ring terminal) cut it off right at the end, put a new terminal on, sand the area where it attaches so it's clean metal, then snug the ground wire back down, adding a star (anti-rattle) washer if there isn't one already. Then a quick smudge of grease or paint over the ground to keep it from corroding again.
You may also have some hot wire shorting to ground.
